Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using the Faith Companion mobile application. By downloading, installing, or using the app, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app. These Terms are between you and Altavation LLC ("Faith Companion") — not Apple Inc.
You must be at least 13 years of age to use the app. If you are between 13 and 18 years of age, you may only use the app with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by these Terms. By using the app, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements.
Faith Companion is a personal spiritual companion application that provides:
The app is designed to support and encourage your personal faith journey. It is not a substitute for professional counseling, therapy, medical treatment, pastoral care, or any form of professional advice.
Faith Companion is a spiritual encouragement tool — not a crisis service, not a therapist, and not a substitute for professional mental health care. Many of our users share deeply personal struggles and we take that responsibility seriously.

Faith Companion is not equipped to respond to crises. Please reach out to a qualified professional.
If you notice that using the app is negatively affecting your mental health or spiritual wellbeing, please speak with a qualified mental health professional, pastor, or trusted person in your life.
Faith Companion offers a free tier with access to core features including basic scripture and limited AI interactions per day. No payment information is required to use the free tier.
Access to premium features requires a paid subscription. Subscription pricing, features, and billing periods are presented within the app at the time of purchase. All prices are in United States dollars (USD).
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
Subscriptions provide access to Faith Companion during the active subscription period. Faith Companion is provided on an ongoing basis and we intend to maintain the service indefinitely. However, we reserve the right to discontinue or materially alter the service with reasonable prior notice. In the event of discontinuation, yearly subscribers may be eligible for a prorated refund of unused subscription time, processed through the Apple App Store in accordance with Apple's refund policies. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users in advance of any discontinuation.
You may manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID Account Settings or through the App Store. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to premium features until the end of your paid period. No partial refunds are provided for unused portions of a subscription term.
We reserve the right to change subscription pricing at any time with advance notice. The new price will take effect at the start of your next billing cycle following notice. Your continued use of the subscription constitutes agreement to the new price.
All purchases are processed through the Apple App Store. Refund requests must be directed to Apple in accordance with their refund policies at reportaproblem.apple.com. We do not process refunds directly.
The app uses artificial intelligence powered by Anthropic's Claude API to generate scripture suggestions, journal reflections, prayers, and spiritual insights. You acknowledge and agree that:
AI-generated content is for personal reflection and encouragement only. It does not constitute and shall not be construed as professional counseling, psychotherapy, medical or psychiatric advice, pastoral counseling, or crisis intervention services.
When you use AI-powered features, your journal text and a summary of recent app activity is transmitted to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a response. This is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Anthropic's terms. By using AI-powered features, you consent to this data transmission. You may disable AI features in app settings at any time.
You retain full ownership of all content you create within the app — journal entries, scripture notes, prayers, and any other personal content. We do not claim any ownership rights over your content.
Your content is stored locally on your device only. We do not maintain server-side copies or backups. Uninstalling the app or using "Delete My Account" will permanently delete all locally stored content.
You are solely responsible for all content you create within the app. You agree not to use the app to create, store, or transmit content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, or otherwise objectionable.
You agree to use the app only for its intended purpose as a personal spiritual companion. You shall not:
The app and its original content (excluding your user content), features, design, and interface are the exclusive property of Faith Companion and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Our trademarks and trade dress may not be used without prior written consent.
The app may request permission to send push notifications including daily devotional messages and scripture verses. You may enable or disable notifications at any time through app settings or your device settings. Notification content is generated for personal spiritual encouragement and is not intended as urgent or time-sensitive communication.

Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices or availability of third-party services.
Faith Companion is a tool for personal spiritual reflection and is non-denominational in nature. The app does not endorse, represent, or affiliate with any specific church, denomination, religious organization, or theological tradition. You should consult with your own pastor, priest, or spiritual director for specific spiritual guidance, doctrinal questions, or matters of faith.
The app is not a healthcare application and does not provide medical, psychological, or therapeutic services. The emotional check-in features are for personal reflection only and are not diagnostic tools. If you are experiencing mental health difficulties, please seek help from a qualified professional.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Faith Companion and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from your use of the app, your violation of these Terms, or any content you create within the app.
We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the app immediately, without prior notice, for any breach of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the app will immediately cease. All provisions that by their nature should survive termination shall survive.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes not resolved by arbitration shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in San Diego County, California.
Before filing any formal legal action, you agree to first attempt to resolve any dispute informally by contacting us at [email protected]. We will attempt to resolve the dispute within sixty (60) days.
Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally shall be settled by binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association, conducted on an individual basis. The arbitrator's decision shall be final and binding.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will provide at least thirty (30) days' notice through the app or via email. Your continued use of the app following the posting of revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Faith Companion regarding your use of the app.
